Investment casting (water glass process)
Water glass investment casting is a casting process where a water glass (sodium silicate) and refractory material mixture is used to create moulds. A wax pattern is coated with the water glass mixture, forming a ceramic shell. Upon heating, the wax melts, creating a mould cavity. Molten metal is then poured into the mould, and once solidified, the ceramic shell is removed, resulting in finely detailed castings suitable for various applications.
