Sand casting
Sand casting is a metal casting process that involves creating a mould using a mixture of sand and a binding agent. The mould is formed around a pattern representing the desired metal part. Molten metal is then poured into the mould, filling the cavity. After the metal cools and solidifies, the mould is broken apart to reveal the final metal casting. This method can be used to create a wide variety of complex and intricate shapes.

Benefits of sand casting
- Size Flexibility: Sand casting can produce components of varying sizes, from small to large, making it suitable for diverse industries.
- Simple Tooling Modification: Modifying moulds for different component designs is relatively straightforward, saving time and cost.
- Economical for Large Components: It’s cost-effective for large and heavy components where other casting methods might be less practical.
- Low volume manufacturing: Sand casting is ideal for low volume manufacturing.
