Open die forging
Open die forging, also known as free forging, is a metal shaping process where heated metal is worked between two flat or slightly curved dies, allowing the material to flow and take the desired shape. The process is characterized by the absence of complete enclosure, providing greater flexibility in producing large, customized, and often asymmetrical components. Open die forging is commonly used for manufacturing parts like shafts, rings, discs, and other industrial components.
What we do
Benefits
- Adaptable for Large Components: It is particularly suitable for forging large and heavy components, where other methods might be less practical.
- Improved Mechanical Properties: The forging process aligns the metal’s grain structure with the shape of the component, resulting in improved mechanical properties.
- Design Flexibility: Open die forging accommodates design changes with minimal tooling modifications, providing flexibility during production.
- Adaptable for Small Quantities: It is suitable for small series.
